ANOTHER PASSING

It has been a sad April as another 60s performer has left us: Gayle Caldwell the brunette half of the singing duo Jackie and Gayle has passed away. Gayle was a member of the New Christy Minstrels before she and Jackie Miller left the group to go out on their own. Though they had not scored a hit record despite their many appearances on such TV shows as Shindig and Hullabaloo or had any acting experience, they were signed to make their film debuts in the b/w surf movie Wild on the Beach (1965) playing coed Sherry Jackson's college chums who wind up sharing a beach house with Frankie Randall and his pals. The duo next turned up in Wild Wild Winter (1966) singing the catchy "Our Love Is Gonna Snowball" while on the sandy shores of Malibu with swimsuit clad boys and girls gyrating around them.

When the duo broke up, Gayle appeared on The Beverly Hillbillies but soon after concentrated on songwriting. In 2008, Gayle returned to the recording studio and released a new CD. Click here to access her web site.
